Requirements

  • You can connect the receiver to your PC via USB or direct serial connection

  • You have identified the COM port assigned to the device on your computer

  • You have requested to share AIS data and have received the IP and port information

  • Your operating system is supported by this software

Configuration

Download the AIS Decoder software here. Make sure that you choose the right software, as other applications are also offered for download. Install it, and start the application.

  • In the main view, you will see the key components that you can manage

  • Under Input, Serial must be activated to receive data from an AIS receiver

  • For Output, it is sufficient to activate UDP

  • You can manage all other functions according to your personal needs

  • Once you have ensured that Serial is set as Input and UDP as Output, click on Options

  • In the options window, first focus on the Input on the left side

  • For Serial, set your COM Port and the appropriate baud rate (Speed),
    which is usually 38400

  • Under Output on the bottom right, in the Client field,
    enter the DNS or IP address you have received

  • In the Port field, enter the port number you have also received

  • Confirm the changes by clicking Save and then close the window

  • To start receiving and forwarding the data, click Start on the left side

  • In the upper right part of the window, you will now see that data is being
    received and forwarded

Next, access your station on MarineTraffic to verify if the data is being received. Please allow a few minutes for the statistics to reflect a successful reception.
