You can become our partner by sending us AIS data and helping us track maritime traffic worldwide. This is important for our community of AIS partners and ship spotters who can see everything via our online platform, as well as for many other organizations and customers.

So how do you become a partner? It’s simple: share the data from your existing AIS equipment or apply for an AIS station in your region to improve coverage.

Here you can share your data or request your own station.

To install a station, you don't need any experience with radio equipment, although it can be helpful. We provide support and all the information you need to install the hardware or share data with us. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our support team, who will assist you.

Once we receive data from your station, your MarineTraffic account will be automatically upgraded within 48 hours if the station consistently sends data.

You can find out which account you'll receive as a thank-you here:

Why should I "Cover my Area"?

MarineTraffic is a community-based project that provides information about ships and their positions using publicly broadcast AIS data. After processing this data, MarineTraffic offers users nearly real-time positions and other details of ships from around the world for free. In addition to our users, we support research projects and maritime rescue organizations worldwide and actively collaborate with them.

Therefore, it is important to install AIS receivers in areas where no other stations exist. Installing receivers at locations with nearby existing stations is also valuable, either as a backup or to expand coverage. This significantly enhances the quality and reliability of the AIS data collected in that area.

With your support, every sea or navigable inland water can be displayed in real-time on the MarineTraffic Live Map. What is needed:

  • Locations close to the coast
(not more than 10 km away or situated at a high elevation)

  • Areas with little or no coverage

  • Regions where the quality and reliability of the data can be improved

  • Areas of particular maritime interest, such as:

    • Busy ports

    • Heavily trafficked shipping routes

    • Canals

    • High-altitude points

Even if you have no experience with radio technology or similar equipment, you can participate in the MarineTraffic project with your own station. Our team of technical specialists will support you and answer all your questions. We hope we can welcome you soon as a new AIS partner to extend our terrestrial coverage worldwide.
