Introduction
This guide explains how to create and manage a Corporate Account in MarineTraffic. A Corporate Account allows companies to manage multiple users and subscriptions in one place. It’s free to set up and ideal for teams who need shared access, centralized billing, and user management.
📌 Important: If you purchase multiple services, you must assign them to users. Otherwise, they remain under your administrator account and other users cannot access the paid features.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to set up your account, invite users, assign or reassign services, and keep track of account activity..
Create a Corporate Account
To create a Corporate Account, you must first have a registered personal MarineTraffic account. The Corporate Account is activated as soon as your first invited user accepts the invitation.
Steps to create your Corporate Account
Go to My Account > Corporate Account
From the Overview or Users tab, invite your first user by entering their email and clicking the green Invite button.
The invited user receives an email titled “Corporate Invitation to Join” with an Accept Invitation button.
The link is valid for 7 days.
If the user already has a MarineTraffic account → they simply accept.
If not → they will be prompted to register first.
Once the first user accepts, your Corporate Account becomes active.
Important notes:
After activation, sign out and sign back in to see the changes.
Once created, your Corporate Account replaces your Personal Account. All previous purchases remain available.
Once created, your Corporate Account replaces your Personal Account but all previous purchases remain available.
Only the administrator (the person who created the account) can purchase and assign services. Invited users do not have admin rights.
To change the administrator, contact the Support Team.
In the Users tab, you can track invitation progress:
Invited: The user has received the email but not yet accepted (shows invitation date).
Joined: The user has accepted and is now an active member (shows join date).
Invite additional users to your Corporate Account
Once your Corporate Account is active, you can invite more users at any time.
From the Overview tab: enter the user’s email address → click Invite.
From the Users tab: enter the user’s email address → click Invite.
Each invited user receives an email titled “Corporate Invitation to Join” with an Accept Invitation button, valid for 7 days. If they already have a MarineTraffic account, they simply accept; if not, they’ll be asked to register first. Invited users do not have admin rights, and any personal services or legacy plans remain available until expiry unless the administrator assigns new services.
Assign services to your Corporate Account users
As the administrator of your company's Corporate Account, you are responsible for assigning MarineTraffic services to users.
📌 Important:
If you purchase more than one service, you must assign them to users. Otherwise, all services remain under your administrator account and other users cannot access the paid features.
Services can only be assigned to users who have accepted the invitation and appear as “Joined” in the Users tab.
To assign services to your Corporate Account users:
Go to My Account > Corporate Account > Users tab.
In the table find the user you want to manage.
Click the blue pencil icon next to their name.
Use the dropdown to assign services or bundles.
Confirm the changes
Remove or reassign services to your Corporate Account users
Sometimes you may need to remove services from one user and give them to another. For example, if a colleague leaves the company, or if another person in the department will now be using a subscription, you can easily reassign services so they remain available to the right people.
Go to My Account > Corporate Account > Users tab.
Find the user currently holding the service.
Click the blue pencil icon next to their name.
Inthe dropdown click the x next to the service you want to remove. The service will now be disconnected from this user.
To reassign it, find the user you want to assign the service to, click the pencil icon next to their name, and select the service from the dropdown list.
This ensures services are not “locked” under the wrong user and can be reassigned when roles or responsibilities change.
