As an AIS partner with one or more stations, it’s occasionally necessary to make adjustments and review the status of your stations. In this article, we'll explore the different options available to help you manage them effectively.

Station Overview

Log in to your account and go to your station overview.

The way to get here is through the menu on the left side. At the bottom, you’ll find the option "My Account." When you click on it, a small submenu will open where you can click on "My Account" again. In the overview that opens, you'll find the entry "My Stations" in the menu. Now, the following overview will be displayed.

Apart from adding a new station to the MarineTraffic network, you are also able to get an overview of all of the stations that you may have already added to the MarineTraffic network. You can see here the following columns:

  • Station ID
This is your unique station number, which is automatically assigned when the station is created and will not change. Providing this station ID to support is helpful, as it allows them to identify your station accurately.

  • Place - Station Name
The name or the place of the station you have provided MarineTraffic with.

  • Country
The country the station is located in.

  • Latitude / Longitude

The GPS coordinates of the location where your station is located in Decimal Degrees.

  • Public
Whether other MarineTraffic users can see the station operator's name ("Operated by") on the station details page depends on the selection you made when adding your station to MarineTraffic.

You can make changes, such as relocating your station, by clicking the edit station symbol at the end of the row.

Edit Station

Here, you can edit the station and update or modify its information. Please ensure that the information remains accurate to avoid unnecessary confusion. Mandatory fields must still be completed when editing. The form opens in a separate overlay window, allowing you to change every field except the station name.

The following fields are available:

  • Place - Station Name (Not editable)
The name that will be displayed on any MarineTraffic page associated with your AIS station, including the Live Map, Station Detail Page, Station Lists, and more.

  • Country
Here you can edit the country where your station is located.

  • Equipment
Here you can add or update information about the hardware you are using, including details about your receiver, antenna, and any other relevant equipment. Providing this information helps us offer more effective support for any technical questions you may have in the future.

  • Altitude (m) (mandatory field)

Here you enter or edit the elevation in meters above sea level. If the station is located by the sea or in open water, this corresponds to the height above sea level. However, if the station is situated inland by a river or lake, the water level might be higher than the sea level, so this needs to be taken into account.

  • Contact Name (mandatory field)
This is the name MarineTraffic uses to contact you, so it’s for internal use only and will not be publicly displayed.

  • Contact Phone

Here you can add or update your phone number. This number will only be used to assist you with your station and will not be used for any other purpose or displayed publicly.

  • Operator
Here you can add or edit your name or call sign that will correspond to the station's operator.

  • Roaming MMSI
This entry is only for stations installed on Vessels that transmit their own AIS data. It allows your station's position to be automatically updated and ensures accurate statistics.

  • Alert Interval Mins (mandatory field)
This is the interval at which you will receive an alert notification if your station goes offline. MarineTraffic will send you an email notification when your station fails to report. Use this setting to define the time interval (in minutes) between the station's failure and the notification. The default value is 60 minutes, but you can set it anywhere from 30 to 1440 minutes (24h).

This allows you to provide MarineTraffic with updated information about your station, such as details about equipment upgrades or any additional information you may have initially left out.

You can also update the GPS coordinates of your station's location if it has been moved or if you want to provide more accurate information. Please ensure that the coordinates are precise, as incorrect information may affect your station's performance and could result in data being blocked.

Activate the check box if you want your operator name publicly visible. If you don’t want this, simply uncheck the box.

After making the necessary changes or additions, make sure that everything is correct and click the "Submit" button to save your updates. A confirmation message will pop up to inform you that the changes have been successfully applied. This will ensure that all your updates are correctly processed and reflected in your station’s details.
