We’re introduced a new data set to our Risk & Compliance Add-On, enabling users to see flag related risks at a glance. The new data set further strengthens and enhances our compliance insights and vessel risk transparency, ensuring users have the tools they need to mitigate risk and make smarter decisions.

Red or Amber flagged flag risks require enhanced due diligence in KYC/AML workflows and form an important component of sanctions compliance. Understanding key risk like flags of convenience or frequent flag hopping can help highlight deceptive or avoiding patterns indicating vessels that require further investigation.

Flag risks can be accessed in the Compliance tab of the Vessel’s section of MarineTraiffic. Please note that the Risk & Compliance add on can be purchased only alongside the Enterprise plan.

We’ve added five key new data-sets, alongside links to relevant authorities. These include:

Flag Ranking - Is the vessel White, Grey, Black listed, and by which MOU

Flag of Convenience - is the vessel currently, or has it previously, been registered under a flag of convenience as identified by the ITF.

USCG Targeted Flags - risk categorisation according to the USCG annual targeted flag list

IMO conventions - Do the vessel’s current and past flags ratify the IMO conventions

ILO conventions - Do the vessel’s current and past flags ratify the ILO conventions

Flag hopping will be added shortly, further enhancing our risk screening.
