Where to find it
From the map, tap on any vessel to open its details page
Tap the Current position tab
Scroll down to the Vessel position section
You will find the Current area displayed there, showing the maritime zone the vessel is currently located in
What does the Current area show?
The Current area indicates the broad geographic maritime zone where the vessel is located. Examples include:
West Mediterranean
North Sea
Aegean Sea
Gulf of Mexico
South China Sea
This gives you a quick at-a-glance understanding of the vessel's general location, useful when you do not need precise coordinates but want to know which part of the world the vessel is operating in.
Need more detail?
If you need the vessel's exact position, the Current position tab also displays the vessel's precise latitude and longitude coordinates alongside the current area.
