Step 1: Access the Notification Builder

  1. Navigate to My Account.

  2. Click the Create Notification button.

Step 2: Set Basic Details & Delivery Channels

  • Notification Title: Enter a clear name to help you identify this notification later.

  • Notification Channels: Choose where you want to receive your alerts:

    • Web: Required if you want to access notification-related events within the Vessel Events database.

    • Email: Sends alerts via email directly to your registered email address.

    • Mobile: Receive Push notification on your mobile (Requires the MarineTraffic mobile app installed on your device).

Step 3: Select Vessels, Fleets, or Locations

Specify the subjects or locations for your notification:

  • Vessels / Fleets: Search by Vessel Name, IMO, or MMSI. You can also select an entire fleet, filter by vessel type, or filter by deadweight.

  • Geographic Locations: Link your notification to a specific location:

    • A specific port

    • All ports within a country

    • A pre-defined MarineTraffic preset area

    • A custom area you previously created

  • Click on “Continue”.

Step 4: Choose Notification Triggers

Select the specific events that will trigger an alert.

Trigger Availability & Logic

Important: Available triggers depend on the targets chosen in Step 3.

  • Example X: If you select Vessel A and Custom Area B, speed-related triggers will be disabled.

  • Example Y: If you select only Vessel A, speed triggers will be available, but "Entered Area of Interest" triggers will not.

Triggers that cannot be combined with your current selections will appear under the Unavailable section. This is expected behaviour.
