Voyage Planner

The Voyage Planner tool helps you estimate and measure the transit time, distance and route of a vessel across single or multi-leg journeys.

Follow these simple steps to calculate a route:

How to Use Voyage Planner

  1. Start your search: Open the page of your starting point (this can be a specific port or a vessel).

  2. Open the tool: Click the "Voyage Planner" button.

  3. Set the Origin ("From"): The system automatically sets your starting point as the origin. You can keep this or change it to any other reference (e.g., another port, vessel, point on the map or your device location).

    1. If you want to calculate the route starting from a point on the map, instead of a port or vessel, follow the simple steps:

      1. Tap on "from".

      2. A screen similar to the one below will appear. Tap on "select on map". Find the place you want on the map and confirm.

  4. Set the Destination ("To"): Enter your final destination.

  5. Add optional "Legs" (Waypoints): If your journey has multiple stops, you can add a "Leg Destination" between your origin and final destination.

    • Example: Origin: Lisbon Leg: Rotterdam Final Destination: Helsinki.

Customising Voyage Options

Before calculating, you can adjust the following settings:

  • ETD: Set the Estimated Time of Departure (date and time).

  • Timezone: Choose how you want to view times:

    • UTC

    • My Time (your device's local time)

    • Local Time (the local time of the departure port)

  • Speed: Input the vessel's planned speed.

  • Avoid Canals/Passages: You can choose to bypass specific waterways:

    • Suez Canal

    • Panama Canal

    • Kiel Canal

    • Arctic Passage

    • Inland Waterways
